History
History The Motto Our Logos Executive Board Initiatives

OfficialCityPrep was founded in 2001 by Garen S. Wolff while a sophomore at Detroit Country Day High School.  Garen was motivated by the requests of parents to “mentor” their daughters,  and her own experiences in middle school.  She asked some of her friends to help, then designed a program which was dedicated to helping African American girls improve their performance on standardized tests in addition to  dealing with academic and social pressures.  The program pairs girls in grades 6-8 with junior and senior high girls.  In June, 2003 after an overwhelming demand the program changed it’s target population to include middle school girls of all races, cultures and nationalities.  And, in August of 2003 Garen was cited for her outstanding commitment to community service and received a Proclamation from the Detroit City Council for her work with OfficialCityPrep™.
