Bee Facts

REGISTRATION:  The registration fee is $7 for Kumon students and $10 for others.  Registration includes: 

1.     60 minute “WordUp” Workshops in September, November, January and March. The Spelling Bee will occur at Wayne State University's Community Arts Auditorium. The dates are the following:

                                    a. Elimination Round-Friday, May 21, 4-7p.m

                                    b. Spell Down- Saturday, May 22, 12-4p.m.

2.     WordUp!  Spelling List and resource book.  

PRIZES:  There are three classes of completion.  One prize is award to the winner(s) of each class.

1.     Class 1 is for students in grades 1-3.  Students can only compete in teams of 3.  The winning team will receive $300; each team member will receive a $100 bill. (Please note that teams can consist of any combination of grades, all third graders, or a combination of all three grades.)

2.     Class 2 is an individual competition open to students in grades 4-5.  A cash prize of $200 will be awarded to the winner.

3.     Class 3 is also an individual competition open to 6th through 8^th graders.  The winner in this class will receive a laptop computer.
